After his maiden win in 2008 for Toro Rosso at Monza, Sebastian Vettel’s success in Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix marked his second Formula One victory. But for his team, Red Bull Racing, it was a maiden triumph. Coming in their fifth season of F1 competition, and with Mark Webber finishing second, it couldn’t taste sweeter.
Brawn GP’s Jenson Button took his third consecutive podium of the 2009 Formula One season finshing third, Team-mate Rubens Barrichello finished in fourth position to secure further valuable points for the team’s championship challenge

Heikki Kovalainen drove a strong Chinese Grand Prix from 12th position on the grid to finish fifth and record his first points of the season. McLaren Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton suffered numerous spins and minor off track excursions on his way to sixth position.
Ferrari nightmare continues as it was pretty clear that while the Ferrari F60 challenger was no race winner, errors in strategy combined with reliability issues had resulted in the team’s disastrous start to the season. Kimi Raikkonen ran as high as fifth before taking his one and only pitstop. The strategy would prove wrong as the Finn took the chequered flag in tenth position having been unable to regain so much lost ground. Felipe Massa meanwhile pulled his F60 to a halt early in the race with an electrical problem.
Running as high as sixth, Adrian Sutil aquaplaned off the circuit with just five laps to go as Force India came tantalizingly close to securing its maiden Formula One points.
Heavy rainfall meant the first eight laps of the race were run behind the safety car, which returned on lap 20 after one of the string of collisions and crashes in the race left debris strewn over the track.
