Manmohan Singh appointed PM for a Second consecutive term. President Prathiba Patil invited Manmohan Singh to be the next Prime Minister of India on Wednesday in which he will be sworn-in on May 22.  UPA coalition has claimed the support of 322 MPs and the new ministry will sworn-in on Friday.

Sonia Gandhi was re-elected UPA chairperson during the meeting today with UPA supporters. Her name was proposed by Karunanidhi as informed by Mamata, the Trinamool Congress informed mediapersons and they also discussed about the knotty issue of distribution of ministerial berths. With having a 19 seats Trinamool Congress is the UPA’s largest ally followed by DMK.

UPA meeting was attended by Pranab Mukherjee, P Chidambaram, AK Antony and General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. Along with them the other members from UPA coalition who attended were Karunanidhi andDayanidhi Maran from DMK, Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) president Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel and National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah.
