Australian bowling legend Glenn McGrath who had played in almost all the matches of IPL in the first season has not being given a chance by the Delhi Daredevils to prove his fitness during this season’s IPL. He has expressed disappointment on being left out by his team, Delhi Daredevils. McGrath is contracted for three years which means he can play in the next year also but he hinted that he may not return for the 2010 season.
McGrath got retired after 2007 World Cup and he had played all the matches of the first IPL and he had taken 14 wickets in 11 matches last year. “It has been hard to be a part of the bench, and I was hoping for a game during the league stage,” he wrote in his column in the Hindustan Times. And also he informed that “I have asked a couple of people about why I was not being played, and I get the sense that they were worried about my fitness. I feel fitter than I did last year, but I guess I will not get a chance to prove that now.”
According to the IPL rule only four foreigners are allowed to play in the match, as Nannes, Dilshan, AB D Villiars and Vettori are all in good form so there is no place for McGrath.
