Rohit Sharma named top under-23 cricketer in IPL | Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers’ batsman Rohit Sharma has been named as the best Under-23 player of the second Indian Premier League. A three-member committee comprising former Indian captains and members of the IPL Governing Council Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi adjudicated the contest.

The 22-year old batsman from Deccan Chargers has scored 333 runs with an average of 27.75 in the league matches of IPL 2 and also he has taken 11 wickets at an average of 11.45, including a hat-trick. Rohit Sharma will carry a cash price of Rs. 1 million of the award. He is one of the best young player in the world and he will make his country  proud in the years to come.

“It is a great honor to be named the Citi Under-23 Success of the League. I am very pleased with my form in South Africa, it has been a fantastic competition and I have really enjoyed it. To be recognized for my achievements by three of the living legends of Indian cricket is a great thrill for me,” Rohit Sharma said.
