New Natal Project from Microsoft
Microsoft unveiled its new controller technology for the Xbox 360 console, which is a centerpiece of any living room, and games, social interaction and communications are controlled with the wave of a hand. The new controller system uses face recognition and motion sensors to allow users to play games.
The new technology provides interaction with a character on screen or shows pictures and information to other Xbox 360 users over the Internet. And it enables a player for instance to drive a car in a game. So to support all these new features it needs a controller. During the demonstration, British developer Peter Molyneux showed how Natal could not only recognize faces, it could recognize facial expressions to determine what mood a player was in and react accordingly.
Microsoft has recently announced 10 new games for the Xbox 360, including Beatles Rock Band, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Tony Hawk Ride and Final Fantasy XIII. Project Natal is addition to this and the “Natal” technology can refresh the gaming experience without making consumers buy a new device, which typically costs $250 to $500. Microsoft would also avoid hefty manufacturing and marketing costs.
