Wordpress has released its new version 2.8 yesterday. The new version 2.8 is named in honor of noted trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker. A popular blogging script Wordpress encourages the webmasters to upgrade their blogs as soon as possible to benefit from the changes in the version 2.8. The update adds a multitude of features and improvements to Wordpress which are mostly noticeable in the admin area of the blog.

Some of the exciting features from Wordpress 2.8:
* Search/Install new Plugins/Themes from Admin
* new CodePress editor which gives syntax highlighting to the previously-plain editor.
* new and improved API for writing widgets in WordPress 2.8. Which allows to do things like edit widgets on the fly, have multiple copies of the same widget, drag and drop widgets between sidebars, and save inactive widgets so you don’t lose all their settings.
* Upto four columns for Dashboard widgets.
* explore the new Screen Options on every page.It’s the tab in the top right.
* Auto-save post/page with Ctrl+S.
* The Plugin and theme editors have been enhanced tremendously. They now have support for syntax highlighting and function lookup.
* WordPress 2.8 now makes it possible for Plugins to specify whether a script should be included in the header or in the footer.
