Chelsea won the FA Community Shield 2009 for the fourth time by defeating Manchester United in a penalty shoot-out at Wembley. Chelsea has won the FA Community Shield in 1955, 2000,2005 and now in 2009. Manchester United which had full control in the first half was not able to do well in the second half. Nani scored early goal for Man Utd at 10th minute.

Chelsea showed familiar resilience to come from behind in the second half by scoring two goals Ricardo Carvalho’s headed equaliser and a hotly-disputed strike from Frank Lampard looked to have given Chelsea victory. But Wayne Rooney’s injury time goal made the match to decide in the Penalty shoot out.

Chelsea started first in the penalty shoot-out with Frank Lampard, But Ryan Giggs from Man Utd missed his first chance. Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou scored for Chelsea and Michael Carrick scored for Man Utd.
