Result – Day 4:
India 426 and 190 for 2 (Gambhir 74*, Sehwag 51) trail Sri Lanka 760 for 7 dec (Jayawardene 275, Prasanna 154*, Dilshan 112) by 144 runs

Sri Lanka finished their first innings on Day 4 by scoring 760 runs and taking a huge lead of 334 runs in the 1st Test against India at Ahmedabad. Jayawardene who scored unbeaten double century on day 3 got out for 275 runs in Mishra’s bowling. Sri Lanka had a better chance of winning the 1st Test match but Sehwag(51) and Gambhir(74*) destroyed the dream of Sri Lankans winning 1st Test match.

Sri Lanka seemed a little unsettled by a charmed innings from Virender Sehwag who survived his own ambitious mindset to score an aggressive half-century. But Rahul Dravid got out at 38 runs 15 minutes before stumps. Sehwag escaped three chances before his eventual dismissal in the final session.
