Result Day -2:
Sri Lanka 66 for 1 (Sangakkara 30*, Paranavitana 30*) trail India 642 (Gambhir 167, Dravid 144, Sehwag 137, Herath 5-121) by 576 runs

India which had resumed on 417-2 on Day 2 of 2nd Test finished their innings by scoring 642 runs against Sri Lanka at Kanpur. Dravid who had scored unbeaten 85 runs in the 1st day scored his 28th Test century on Day 2 and went past Allan Border’s mark of 11,174 runs in Test cricket. Finally he got run out for 144 runs, Sachin was able to score 40 runs on Day 2 but VVS Laxman (63) and Yuvraj Singh (67) batted well to help India to score 417 runs against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka have finished the Day 2 by scoring 66 runs for the loss of one wicket, both Tharanga Paranavitana and Kumar Sangakkara finished on 30 not out. India bolwed well by taking Tillakaratne Dilshan‘s  wicket for a first-ball duck, Z Khan took the wicket of Dilshan in his first over. For Sri Lanka, Herath finished with figures of five for 121 from 33 overs, while Mendis claimed two for 162 from 38.
