Australia takes on Pakistan in 1st Test on Boxing Day from December 26 to 30, 2009 at Melbourne. Australia which had finished the Frank Worrell Trophy Test series against West Indies by winning it with 2-0 and it  is looking forward to win the Test Series against Pakistan also. But Pakistan have also finished the New Zealand test series by drawing with 1-1 and it is looking forward to win the test series against Australia under their new skipper Mohammad Yousuf .

Australia got a good news before boxing day Test against Pakistan as their regular skipper Ricky Ponting looks to have overcome on elbow injury to play in the 1st Test. It will be a very tight competitions between Australia and Pakistan as both teams have strong batting and bowling line-up. Pakistan have the better spinners in Danish Kaneria and Saeed Ajmal and fast bowlers like Umar Gul and Mohammad Asif.

Australians feels they have strong batting line-up as Ponting is back in the team and also they have Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Mike Hussey in their side. Simon Katich and Shane Watson can give good start for Australia and Ponting can carry over in the middle order. Pakistan have played eight Tests at the MCG for two wins, in 1978-79 and 1981-82.
