Australia 3 for 305 (Katich 98, Watson 93, Ponting 57) v Pakistan

Australia finished the Day 1 of first Test against Pakistan by scoring 305 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. All credit goes to opening pair Watson(93) and Katich(98) who put 182 runs for the first wicket. Pakistan bowling was not good against Australians strong batting line-up, Mohammad Asif was the only successful bowler for Pakistan who took 2 wickets by giving 69 runs in 21 overs.

Katich once again failed to convert 90′s into 100 as he got out for 98 runs and also Watson failed to score 100. Ponting scored quick 57 runs, he took only 60 balls to score 57 runs before he got out for Asif. Michael Hussey (38 not out from 43 balls) batted with an air of aggression and authority not witnessed in many a month and, along with nightwatchman Nathan Hauritz (5 not out) ensured no further Australian casualties before stumps.
