India 414 for 7 (Sehwag 146, Dhoni 72, Tendulkar 69) beat Sri Lanka 411 for 8 (Dilshan 160, Sangakkara 90, Tharanga 67) by three runs

India wins the 1st ODI match against Sri Lanka by three runs on Tuesday December 15 at Rajkot. India defeated Sri Lanka in a high scoring game at Rajkot, it was fantastic and thrilling match between India and Sri Lanka. Virender Sehwag and Tillakaratne Dilshan scored big hundred at 1st ODI but it was India finally who won the 1st ODI. Sri Lanka had good chance of defeating India but at the end a good bowling performance from India made them to win 1st ODI.

Sri Lanka which had won the toss elected to field first in the absence of Malinga and Muralitharan. All the top order batsman from India scored good runs, Virender Sehwag(146), Sachin Tendulkar(69) and Dhoni(72) helped India to reach 414 runs in 1st ODI. Sri Lanka responded well for the target set by India, Tillakratne Dilshan starred for the tourists with a quickfire 160 while Kumar Sangakkara added 90 off 43. But three late run outs cost Sri Lanka as they were just short on 411-8.
