Telangana tense again, Centre Backtracking on Telanaga Issue, 48-hour bandh in Telangana

Telangana issue is back again after Centre government has backtracking on Telangana separation from Andhra Pradesh. The Centre government is asking for more time to resolve the Telangana issue and it has said that the situation in Andhra Pradesh has changed since the announcement on creation of separate Telangana State. So many political parties and ministers in Andhra Pradesh have opposed the separation of Telangana.

After the announcement on creation of separate Telangana State, MPs and MLAs of Coastal Andhra and Rayalseema region protested vehemently and carried out a campaign with almost daily meetings with central leaders and ministers demanding a statement that the creation of Telangana would not be initiated without a consensus. So Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said it wants to consider “all views” on the demand for a separate Telangana state and “peace and tranquility should be maintained” in Andhra Pradesh.

Reacting to the Government’s statement, Rao announced that MPs, MLAs and other elected representatives of the region will submit their resignations. He has also called for a 48-hour bandh in the region. An angry TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao told reporters that the government had put the Telangana issue on the backburner.
