Result Day – 2:
Pakistan 4 for 94 (Farhat 38) trail Australia 8 for 519 dec (Ponting 209, Clarke 166) by 425 runs

Australia declared their 1st innings on Day 2 by scoring 519 runs for the loss 8 wickets in the 3rd Test against Pakistan. Aussie skipper Ponting scored double century on Day 2 in 3rd Test. Ponting scored 209 runs before he got out to Aamer and Clarke scored 166 runs to help Australia to score 519 runs in the 1st innings of 3rd Test. Danish Kaneria bowled well for Pakistan by taking three wickets.

In reply Pakistan have scored 94 runs on Day 2 by loosing four wickets which includes 2 run-outs also. Pakistan are still 425 runs behind the score made Australia in the 1st innings, now Pakistan has to depend on Shoaib Malik and Salman Butt to score as much as runs in the 1st innings of 3rd Test. But Salman Butt (34 not out) was involved in the dismissals of both captain Mohammad Yousuf (7) and Umar Akmal (8). Pakistan captain Yousuf later branded team-mate Butt as “selfish”.
