New Zealand 258 for 5 (Guptill 80*, McCullum 58*, Rubel 3 for 86) v Bangladesh

New Zealand have ended the Day 1 of 1st Test against Bangladesh by scoring 258 runs for the loss of five wickets. A unbroken century Partnership between Martin Guptill(80*) and Brendon McCullum(58*) helped New Zealand to score 258 runs in the 1st Test against Bangladesh. At one stage New Zealand have lost five wickets for just 158 runs but a Guptill batted well by scoring unbeaten 80 runs.

Rubel Hossain bowled well for Bangladesh by taking three important wickets and he was supported Shakib Al Hasan who took one wicket by giving just 34 runs. A damp start and bad light late in the day saw a total of 21.5 overs lost. Bangladesh will be pleased with the way they have competed, but will need to make early breakthroughs tomorrow to stand any chance of pulling off an unexpected victory.
