India wins the 2nd Test match against South Africa by an innings and 58 runs on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Kolkata. India have retained their top position in the ICC test rankings after defeating South Africa and leveling the series bu 1-1. It was a thrilling win for India despite a brilliant batting from Amla who remained unbeaten in the 2nd Test by scoring 127 runs.

South Africa which had began the day 5 with 115 runs with the loss of three wickets, faced an uphill task to save the match after their first-innings collapse. It was a superb bowling from spin bowlers who helped India to defeat South Africa in the 2nd Test. Harbhajan Singh took five wickets in the 2nd innings Amit Mishra took three wickets to help India to win the 2nd Test match. The win means India retain their place ahead of South Africa at the top of the Test world rankings.
